SILVER SNAKES
Since the release of Pictures of a Floating World in November of 2011 on CD via Siren Recordings and on vinyl in July of 2012 on Animal Style Records, Silver Snakes have toured with the likes of HRVRD, Broadway Calls, Sainthood Reps, Defeater, Junius, Souvenirs and ÆGES (members of Pelican, Shift, the Rise) and done scattered dates with Coheed & Cambria, Braid, Balance & Composure, Shiner, Touché Amoré, Narrows and La Dispute. The band has also appeared at festivals such as Sound & Fury, Gainesville’s The Fest, Fun Fun Fun Nights and South By Southwest.
Amongst all of the touring and shows, Silver Snakes found time to hit the studio to record a digital single, Old Light (which was made available by Animal Style and came as a companion download to the LP), a split with fellow Southern Californians, Souvenirs (called Winter Songs and released in conjunction with their west coast tour), a track for Hopeless Records’ 2013 “Take Action†compilation, and the Sundance teaser single in late 2013.
It was in early 2014 that the band delivered the long-awaited, proper followup to Pictures of a Floating World: Year of the Snake, Silver Snakes' first full-length in nearly three years. Their sophomore effort builds on the promise of those aforementioned releases, delivering a heavy, uncompromising, metallic post-hardcore/alternative hybrid experimentally touching upon both ends of the rock spectrum, from sludgy forays to acoustic detours and a snarling melodic sensibility spread throughout.
