HEAVYHEX Release New Single, "You Can't Stay Here"
Since forming in 2021, HEAVYHEX have quickly gained a reputation for their ability to translate raw emotion into their music, blending melodic and post-hardcore. Today, the band shares new single “You Can’t Stay Here,” serving as a teaser for a new album recorded by Jay Maas out this Spring on Bridge Nine Records. The song bursts with an impactful vocal delivery and winding riffs before heading into an infectious hook. Lyrically, the track addresses how the unhoused are treated with little regard. You can listen to it HERE.
Vocalist David Gastiaburo expands on the lyrics:
“You Cant Stay Here’ was written after NYC’s failed attempts to sweep homeless encampment sites. It was an ill attempt to force the homeless into shelters but it failed. Out of the 2,300 homeless people present during those sweeps, only 119 agreed to go to a shelter and most of them did not stay. Many were forced out with little time to take any of their belongings with them. These are people too, just like us, trying to get by.”
HEAVYHEX is the newest addition to Bridge Nine Records, joining the long running home to hardcore, which started in 1995 and has put out releases for Have Heart, American Nightmare, New Found Glory, Ceremony, Agnostic Front, H2O, Defeater, Crime In Stereo, and Strike Anywhere to name a few. The band is a part of the blossoming Long Island melodic hardcore scene alongside bands including Stand Still, Koyo, and Private Mind. The band’s captivating, sing-a-long ready live show has allowed them to share the stage with acts like Silent Majority, Militarie Gun, Soul Glo, I Am The Avalanche, and Spite House.
HEAVYHEX is Daniel Lukach (Guitar & Vocals), David Gastiaburo (Vocals), Cody Hermann (Bass), Jeremy Gardiner (Guitar), and Michael DiLello (Drums).

Dave Smalley (DYS, Dag Nasty, All, Down By Law) Needs Your Help
Dave Smalley needs your help.
If you’re seeing this, you’re more than likely a friend, fan, or supporter of Dave. He’s currently in the beginning stages of recovering from some serious health issues, and is in need of our help. Dave had a tough fight against cancer last year. He spent the first half of 2023 doing several bouts of chemo, followed by a surgery to remove the remaining cancer. The recovery from surgery and treatment brought on its own challenges, which left Dave hospitalized with Encephalitis on two separate occasions, for several months. He is back home now, but will need some PT going forward. It's been a scary year, but Dave is winning his fight. While he was hospitalized he was unable to work, and is left with an astronomical amount of bills. No matter the amount, any donation will go straight towards the care and medical attention needed to get him back on his feet.
Here is a message from Dave's children; Madeline, Abigail, Colter and Griffin:
“Hi all, Dave's kids here. We just wanted to say thank you in advance for your support for our dad. He’s had a hell of a year with these health complications, but we’re confident that he’s on the road to recovery. Even while in the hospital he was showing us studio recordings of some new music!!! All the love you’ve been sending is appreciated. Cheers.”

Catch Jake Woodruff (Defeater, Dreamtigers) on Tour This Month with Aisha Burns

The artists recorded at home and it was mixed by Jon Low (The Menzingers, The National, Taylor Swift), and is a great take on a classic tune.
